Kirinda in the deep south is a remote corner of Sri Lanka edged by the Indian Ocean. !! lies nearby the ancient Kirinda temple and has sea views from the rooftop terrace. Set amidst two acres of dry zone trees and large boulders, this is a peaceful holiday retreat in an unadorned setting.
The ground floor has a living and dining area opening out to a verandah and swimming pool. The bedroomshave a/c with some having sea views. The bungalow is rented to only one party at a time and can accommodate up to12 guests. |

AccommodationAccommodation There are a total of six double rooms - two located on the ground floor and four more on the upper floor. Two bedrooms upstairs have sea views. All bedrooms have a/c and are furnished with double or twin beds fitted with mosquito netting. All the rooms have attached bathrooms with h/w showers.
ExcursionsExcursions A jeep safari into the Yala National Park is possible at dawn and again at about 3.30 pm when the birds and animals are more visible. We can arrange a safari jeep to come directly to the Capital Holidays bungalow to get you to the park entrance by 6.00 am. The excursion can take up to three hours accompanied by a wildlife tracker.
Yala National Park, with a total protected area of 126,768 hectares, is one of the best places to see a wide variety of Sri Lankan wildlife because of its scrub plains, lagoons and rocky sections. Boasting one of the world's densest leopard populations, Yala attracts many visitors.
Yala is also home to herds of elephants, sloth bear, sambar, spotted deer, wild boar, crocodiles, monkeys and numerous species of birds. The ancient Kirinda temple, Tissamaharama with its ancient temples and reservoirs, the jungle shrine of Kataragama, and Bundala bird sanctuary can be accessed from here.
FacilitiesFacilities The living/dining area is furnished with sofas and dining table for 10. The living room has cable TV, DVD player, and home theatre system. The verandah opens out to the swimming pool and a backdrop strewn with boulders where peacock are often seen strutting about the coastal scrub.
There is also a small rooftop terrace for taking in the sunsets and sea views. Sri Lankan cuisine is served here and guests can order from the set menu for lunch and dinner. The bungalow has a cook and caretaker that looks after the gardens and the house.
The house has a fence right around and has gates to provide for added security. Safe swimming in the ocean is possible in Modera which is only a 10 minutes walk from here.
