Green shadow lodge borders the Sinharaja Rain forest and delared a world heritage site. The lodge is surrounded by mountains and Crystal clear water and on the oneside and by an emerald green tea plantation on the other. The lodge is built inrustic style to maintain an Eco friendly theme with the use of timer and clay.
This is a place for those who want to take refuge in the lap of nature and enjoy its beauty and marvels. The atmosphere is truely remarkable, being right in the thick of the rain forest.
Singharaja Green Shadow Lodge is 3 years old and has become well established among adventure, nature and wildlife lovers.
In building this unique lodge the concept was based on traditional design and made of wood and clay as well as eco friendly material. The natural landscape of this land was never disturbed when constructing the lodge buildings. Existing rocks and boulders are allowed to remain inside structures as well as bed rooms as it adds beauty and perfection to the lodge.
The furniture is designed ith untreated wood including the main dining table,. The Lodge is illuminated with lanterns doing away with electricity. There is also a simple electricity system call makintio, that fixes a small Turbine to the water fall which can burn 10 bulbs throughout the day . |

SOME OF THE BIRDS IN SINGHARAJA RAIN FOREST Singharaja rain forest, which is a world heritage site, may be described either as a Tropical Lowland Rainforest or Tropical wet evergreen forest. Birding in this ecosystem is very interesting. 95% of the endemic birds of Sri Lanka have been recorded in Sinharaja.
Singharaja is the best location to observe the flock behaviour of birds We will be looking for Sri Lanka Spur fowl, Sri Lanka Jungle fowl, Green-billed Coucal, Red-faced Malkoha, Blue Magpie and Spot-winged Thrush, Endemic White-faced Starling, Sri Lanka Myna amongst others. Also keeps an eye out for the endemic purple-faced leaf monkeys moving through the canopy, and the impressive grizzled Indian squirrel.
