Bamboo is constructed on split levels with high timber roofs, large open spaces and wide verandahs that allow you to enjoy the surrounding views and the cool up-country climate. The house has an informal and upbeat atmosphere with brightly-coloured upholstery, polished cement floors and a mixture of both Sri Lankan and Oriental furniture. The villa is ideal for friends and family travelling together. |

AccommodationAccommodation Bamboo has three double bedrooms with private balconies and ensuite bathrooms with open air showers. Two of the rooms are airconditioned and all three have overhead ceiling fans. All the rooms are furnished with comfortable double beds. One room is particularly spacious and also has a bunk bed which can be used by children.
FacilitiesFacilities Steps from the main entrance lead you into a spacious living and dining area which opens out to a large covered verandah ideal for outdoor dining. There is a modern kitchen on the ground floor and BBQ facilities. The upper level consists of a second lounge area with a library, television, DVD player and music system. Bamboo doesn’t have a swimming pool, but guests are welcome to use the Victoria pool just a few minutes walk away. The villa is maintained and managed by the Victoria Golf & Country Resort with their housekeeping staff coming daily. There is also an in-house cook who will prepare Sri Lankan rice and curries as well as Western dishes.
ExcursionsExcursions The Victoria Golf and Country Resort, just 10 minutes walk away, offers a wide range of facilities including an 18-hole golf course, putting green and practice range, Pro shop and PGA golf academy. Other sports and recreational facilities include bar and terrace dining, floodlit tennis court, Saddle club and horse safaris, outdoor infinity swimming pool and an Ayurvedic centre. The surrounding reservoir and central hills are ideal for bird watching. Over 100 species of birds can be spotted on nature trails within the 500-acre estate accompanied by a local expert. Mountain bike trails also provide for much adventure. The city of Kandy, just 30 minutes away, is steeped in history and culture. Interesting activities include: a visit to the Temple of the Tooth where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined; Peradeniya Botanical gardens, with its orchid collection and formally laid-out trees; Kandy’s rich ancient arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat weaving and Kandyan dancing and drumming.
