There are 24 deluxe rooms and suites and 97 superior rooms. Superior rooms have a/c, satellite TV, minibar, in-room safes, and IDD phones. Deluxe rooms also have DVD player and more luxurious interiors with traditional hand-woven hangings. Most of the rooms face the Mahaweli River and provides scenic views from the private balcony. The interiors are furnished with colours and fabrics that are in keeping with traditional Kandyan style.

Chaaya Citadel is the most conveniently placed of Kandy's hotels for a boat trip down the Mahaweli - take the `Scenic Way' excursion and complete your boat trip with a candlelit dinner on the riverside. Other tours could include the `Temple Tour' - covering Kandy's ancient temples and shrines - or a hike along the Hantana mountains, Udawatte Kelle forest reserve, and the botanical gardens. The hotel also offers the `Cultural Trail' - a study of Kandy's arts and crafts including drum making, Dumbara mat waving, and jewelry crafting.
