If you want to stay somewhere that looks straight out of a Bond movie, then this is your place.
The Boulder Garden is about 25 mins drive from the Sinharaja rainforest entrance. A fantastic hotel, entered through a secret gap in the rock! Fantastic decor with a beautiful dining area.
The hotel is approached up a bumpy track, already miles from anywhere but within an area of incredible beauty, surrounded by tea plantations, jungle and rice fields with black boulders dotted about. The hotel itself is completely hidden amongst huge black granite boulders and jungle. You walk into it by climbing water covered steps inbetween vast granite boulders. If you are lucky you will be the only guests when you’re here. It is a haven of peace, the silence only broken by the cacophony of bird calls, some of the most weird and wonderful sounds.
Great value if you are a nature lover, photographer, bird watcher - lots and lots of birds and insects and you see many monkeys and beautiful giant black squirrels all around. Huge Boulders and beautiful location. Its an expensive place that will not disappoint you, once you’ve seen and been around vicinity and the Sinharaja rainforest. Also a great honeymoon location, especially to be holed up in the rainy season for 2 to 3 nights with nature. |

FoodFood The food is very good, although it is expensive compared to other places and of course, you are completely remote from any other place, so you have to eat here. The breakfast is out of this world though ... a feast fit for kings. When in Sri Lanka try the Sri Lankan food.
