Breakfast is whatever you want, from Sri Lankan pancakes called ‘hoppers’ to just toast with eggs and marmalade, all served with lots of lovely fresh fruit. Lunch and dinner are available on request, and as the Lodge is run more like a private villa than guesthouse, there are no set mealtimes.
Home-cooked dinner can range from freshly caught fish, pasta cooked al-dente or a spicy Sri Lanka dish. We sampled a five-plate feast of ‘rice and curry ’ featuring; lamb curry, green beans in coconut milk, Dahl, battered ‘scissor’ flowers (yes, really, flowers), bitter gourd (a local vegetable reminiscent of courgette) and dozens of tiny local fish served whole.
