Beruwala is the sort of beach where you spending a holiday soaking yourself on the beach, dipping in the warm waters and relaxing on the sandy beaches. An hour's drive from Colombo along the south coast will take visitors to Beruwala. Located at 58 km south of Colombo, it marks the beginning of 130 km stretch of the South Coast Beach. It is located close to the famous tourist spot of Bentota. Beruwala beach is not only a beautiful beach, but has a history of it?s own. Beruwala is considered to be the first Muslim settlement in the Island established by the Arab traders as far back as the 8th century. There is a famous Muslim mosque at the beachhead close to which is a light house one of several erected along the Sri Lankan.

The tranquility of the palm fringed beach is so enchanting that one wishes to come back here again and again.
